The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission has undertaken a 2 year study of Route 30 between 52nd Street in West Philadelphia and Old Eagle School Road in Wayne. The study seeks to promote a more sustainable region by coordinating land use and transportation decisions in a manner that encourages smart growth. For information and feedback, please visit:

Annual Sharpe Park Neighbors Night Out Sept 14th

Conceived by HCA Board member Jane Carton and supported by the Garden Workers, the annual Sharpe Park event is a fun gathering for kids of all ages. Now in its third year, the Neighbors Night Out is a great place to mingle with friends, make new acquaintances, meet your commissioners, share a cold drink and a cookie and eagerly await your winning number for a wonderful door prize. The 2010 festivities will be held on September 14th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed and are most welcome – food, entertainment, sponsors, decorations, etc. If you are interested in learning more about the Sharpe Park gala event or the Haverford Civic, why not attend a meeting – the 2nd Tuesday of evey month at 7:30 p.m. at the Merion Cricket Club. Sharpe Park is located on the southwest corner of Montgomery Avenue and Station Avenue, adjacent to the Haverford Train Station.

Ludington Library Renovation Started January 22nd

A significant component of the Lower Merion Township Capital Improvement Program (“CIP”) is the renovation of the Ludington Library in central Bryn Mawr. The ground breaking for this renovation project occured on January 22, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. with many township officials and interested citizens in attendance. During the renovation period, Ludington will be served by 2 adjacent trailers as well as the Ardmore and Gladwyne libraries. Click on the link below for media coverage.

Off-Leash Dog Parks Renewed

After a successful pilot program, the off-leash dog park program was renewed through 2010. The off-leash dog parks are West Mill Creek park and Rolling Hill Park. The permit fee is $25.00 payable at the Lower Merion township building in Ardmore.

Emergency Access through LOCK FOR LIFE

The LOCK FOR LIFE program provides emergency access to your residence for Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Service (EMS) personnel when you are unable to open the door. The program is available to all residents of Lower Merion who are age 55 and older, and for disabled persons who live alone and/or have significant medical problems.

Lower Merion Township (LMT) emergency personnel believe this effort will directly increase the chance of survival following a medical emergency.

A key to your residence will be stored in a lock box in proximity to the entrance to your residence. The access code will be available only to Police, Fire and EMS personnel, and it would be used only during an emergency when responders cannot make entry into your home without using force. This capability enables responders to gain quick and easy access, thereby greatly enhancing their ability to access the sick or injured. And without damage to the property.
